Interesting MRI images. These images are from works in progress.
Dynamic MRI of speech:
Welcome to MRFIL. Dynamic magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) movie of the oropharynx during real-time speech imaging using the methods contained in the publication:
Sutton BP, Conway CA, Bae Y, Seethamraju R, Kuehn DP. Faster dynamic imaging of speech with field inhomogeneity corrected spiral fast low angle shot (FLASH) at 3 T. In press, J Magn Reson Imaging, 2010.
3/22/10: Using 32-channel coil on Siemens TIM Trio, we can achieve single-shot EPI fMRI scan with 1.3x1.3x1.8 mm voxels, coronal, TE 27 ms, TR 3010 ms with 35 slices. Notice the susceptibility weighting in the images.

Simultaneous functional and dynamic MRI:
For imaging natural movments, we have created a sequence for the simultaneous acquisition of a standard BOLD functional MRI scan interleaved with a dynamic scan. Shown are three example movies of the areas explored with the dynamic scan, or areas that can be monitored for fMRI applications. We show a finger tapping, an eye movement, and a tongue tap and swallow.
Eye movement: In this video you can see the eye looking up and down at the same time that the axial functional MRI slices are acquired of the brain.
In this video you can see the cross-sections of the fingers tapping at the same time that the axial functional MRI slices are acquired of the brain.
Tongue Tapping and Swallowing
In this video you can see the cross-sections of the tongue during swallowing and tapping at the same time that the axial functional MRI slices are acquired of the brain.
